The UpRace 2024 community running project, which has the greatest impact in Vietnam, will officially take place from September 20, 2024 to October 13, 2024.
Entering its 7th season, UpRace continues to adopt the message from UpRace 2023 - "The Joyful Journey" as its core theme, focusing on the experiences and emotions of participants, emphasizing the value of perseverance rather than just focusing on the final results.
Ms. Tran Xuan Ngoc Thao, Director of Human Resources and Communications at VNG, the sponsor of UpRace, shared: "For UpRace 2024, we continue to choose 'Journey of Happiness' as the project's enduring message, along with introducing a new key visual inspired by the body heat chart during running, with alternating hot and cold points. We believe that each year, UpRace will continue to attract more participants, and every step we take will contribute to making Vietnam's 'heat map' of physical activity warmer. We are not only exercising together to improve health, but also creating happy values for the community through meaningful social activities, consistent with UpRace's mission."
According to the organizers, the funding for UpRace 2024 will accompany strategic sponsors, including the Dreams Foundation (DMF), CIMB Vietnam Bank, and VNG, contributing to three reputable social organizations: the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, the Association for Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVDO), and the Center for Development Support of Mother and Newborn Care in Vietnam.
In addition, UpRace 2024 has received support from accompanying sponsors such as Minh Long 1 Co., Binh Tien Bien Hoa Co., Kim Oanh Group, Maritime Bank (MSB) Tan Binh branch, ACT Telecommunications Joint Stock Company, and YouNet Media.
"We expect UpRace 2024 to achieve impressive results in both fundraising and community participation, thereby spreading messages about health and community cohesion. This year's theme for UpRace is 'Journey of Happiness,' so we will continue to accompany to multiply that happiness and bring sustainable good values to the community," emphasized Ms. Truong Cam Thanh, President and Director of the Dreams and Creation Fund.
"This year marks the first time the Center for Development Support of Mother and Newborn Care in Vietnam (Newborn Vietnam) has participated in UpRace. The support from UpRace is expected to equip 120 lecturers and healthcare staff in Vietnam with specialized resuscitation knowledge, providing life-saving opportunities for 800,000 newborns," said Mr. Nguyen Hoanh Tien, Chairman of the Center for Development Support of Mother and Newborn Care in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, ASVDO hopes that UpRace 2024's contributions will enable the Association to provide conditions to gift 500 wheelchairs and combine funding and livelihood support with a subsidy of 15 million VND/month for 80 disabled individuals, helping them create sustainable incomes and stabilize their lives.
"UpRace has truly integrated deeply into the community. During the 2023 UpRace month, ASVDO successfully organized more than 20 concentrated running events, involving 200 to 1500 participants. The project has strengthened our connection from central to local levels, thereby promoting the Association's activities to further develop. Honored to accompany UpRace for 3 consecutive years, ASVDO hopes that this year we will continue to connect the community, collaborate, care, and support to provide more resources for disabled individuals in difficult situations, helping them confidently and happily improve their lives," shared Mr. Nguyen Trong Dam, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Chairman of the Association for Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans.
With the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund - this is the second consecutive year of collaboration with UpRace, with the fund's resources continuing to be used to realize the dreams of attending school for 8,000 ethnic minority and island students in the 2024 - 2025 school year, celebrating the achievements marking the 25th anniversary of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and 10 years of activities of the "For Hoang Sa - Beloved Truong Sa" Club.
UpRace this year also includes the participation of two ambassadors: singer ISAAC and athlete Tran Van Dang. To increase the event's impact, the offline running event "UpRace Day 2024" will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 13 with the largest scale to date, expected to attract 4,000 participants across 3 distances: 5km, 10km, and 21km. At the same time, within the framework of UpRace 2024, university partners will also implement many attractive accompanying activities, notably the UpRace Day x Music Fes event of Ton Duc Thang University.
In addition, the UpRace app this year will feature improvements in stability, providing smooth experiences for participants. The integration of AI will continue to be used to detect irregular activities, establish achievement milestones through specialized devices... aiming to increase accuracy in evaluating runs and contributing to fair, civilized sportsmanship.
